Join the Arts & Culture Crowd

Janet Ginter enjoys variety. That’s why she’s a regular at the library’s Arts & Culture Series at Carrico/Fort Thomas, now in its third year.

“I like a lot of diversity,” said Ms. Ginter, a retiree from Alexandria. “I like a lot of different types of music and a lot of different types of people.”

The series offers two great events in April. At 7 p.m. Friday, April 1, Falcon Theatre & The Queen City Sisters present “Sentimental Journey,” a fond look back to the Golden Age of Radio.

Become part of a studio audience at a 1943 broadcast and hear Andrews Sisters-style songs, plus serial comedies and melodramas.

At 7 pm Friday, April 29, the series swings toward the swing revival of the 1990s, as The Kentucky Symphony Orchestra presents The Covington Devou-Doo Daddies.

The KSO’s 10-piece show band will enthusiastically recreate the fusion of old jazz and swing with modern rock.

The KSO, an Arts & Culture Series staple, an Arts & Culture Series staple, is a favorite of Ms. Ginter.

Sandy Konerman of Alexandria, who attends many Library events with her husband, Bert, also lists the KSO as a favorite. “When they come, they are really good,” Mrs. Konerman said. “We’ve gone to two KSO performances and they were both excellent. We brought lots of friends and they all loved it. Some of them are coming to the next one.”

Mrs. Konerman also likes the diversity of all the Library’s events. She’s especially looking forward to the upcoming City Barbeque’s Food for Thought at 6:30 pm Tuesday, April 19 at Cold Spring.

Separate registration for both Arts & Culture Series events is required. The series is free and sponsored by the Friends of the Campbell County Public Library. Added support for the April 29 event is provided by Seta Music of Silverton, Ohio.
