Digital Connect Program Offers Free Tablets for Seniors

The library is partnering with Meals on Wheels and AARP’s Senior Planet to provide free digital classes for seniors. Even better? Participants will receive a free tablet to use during the program and beyond.
In today’s world, being connected is more important than ever. Whether it’s video calling loved ones, accessing important information or exploring hobbies online, having the digital skills to navigate technology can open up a world of opportunities. That’s where the Digital Connect program comes in.
What is Digital Connect?
Digital Connect is a hands-on program designed to equip you with the essential foundational skills to use a tablet device confidently and comfortably. No previous tech experience is required. Over the course of three weekly hour-long classes, you’ll learn how to use a free tablet provided to you, take care of your device and navigate applications (apps).
Here’s What the Class Schedule Looks Like:
- Meet Your Tablet: Get to know your new device, from turning it on to adjusting settings and exploring basic features.
- Staying Safe Online: Learn the essentials of internet safety, including how to recognize scams and keep your personal data secure.
- Exploring & Downloading Apps: Learn how to download and use apps for communication, entertainment, health and more.
How to Participate in the Program
In order to participate in the Digital Connect classes, attendees must meet the following requirements:
- Not already own a tablet device
- Age 60 or over
- Earn an income of less than $31,300 for singles or $42,300 for couples
- Have access to wifi/internet in your home
Participants that complete all three classes hosted at our library branches will keep their tablet after the program concludes. They are also required to complete a survey before classes start, on the last class and after 3-6 months of owning their new tablet device.
All classes meet at 2 pm. Registration is required. Please register for all three classes at only one branch.
