The Book Bus on Tour
June 7: Putt, Putt, Popsicles and Planets
The tour kicks off at Bernadette Watkins Park in Newport. Enjoy astronomy-related activities. Families can play a round of putt-putt and eat a freezer pop.
Head to City Center Park in Wilder to make shrinky-dinks! You bring the creativity and the library will provide the materials needed to craft your own shrinky-dink masterpiece.
Art is all over at this event held at Dayton, Kentucky’s Gil Lynn Park. Have fun with temporary, glitter and even custom-made tattoos. Families will get the chance to participate in a collaborative art project that will be displayed at the library’s next visit to the park on July 19.
June 28: Ladybugs on the Loose
Ladybugs will be on the loose at Alexandria Community Park. Not only are they cute but ladybugs are beneficial to the environment! They eat aphids and other plant-eating pests. Celebrate this amazing insect with ladybug-related activities and a scavenger hunt.
Mark your calendars for a bubble party at Bernadette Watkins Park in Newport! Make small bubbles, giant bubbles and even bubble snakes! Attendees can even make their own bubble wands.
Just in time for Shark Week, the Book Bus returns to the City Center Park in Wilder! Celebrate one of the ocean’s most misunderstood creatures with shark-tastic activities, including a photo booth.
July 19: Good Green Earth Petting Zoo
Visit the animals of Good Green Earth Farm at Dayton, Kentucky’s Gil Lynn Park. There will be all kinds of friendly farm animals for children to see and interact with.
The Arboretum on Wheels is coming to Alexandria Community Park… and so is the Book Bus! The Arboretum on Wheels is an innovative mobile environmental education lab that brings nature-focused activities to families.
