The Book Bus is Going on its First Summer Tour!

The Book Bus is hitting the road to bring fun and free events through July across Campbell County.

Watch out for The Book Bus this June and July at a park near you.

All events start at 10 am. Registration is not required. In case of inclement weather, check out the library’s website, social media pages or call any of our branches.

Don’t forget to climb aboard The Book Bus to pick out a free read to take home.

The Book Bus on Tour

June 7: Putt, Putt, Popsicles and Planets

The tour kicks off at Bernadette Watkins Park in Newport. Enjoy astronomy-related activities. Families can play a round of putt-putt and eat a freezer pop.

 


June 14: DIY Shrinky Dinks

Head to City Center Park in Wilder to make shrinky-dinks! You bring the creativity and the library will provide the materials needed to craft your own shrinky-dink masterpiece.

 


June 21: Art All Over 

Art is all over at this event held at Dayton, Kentucky’s Gil Lynn Park. Have fun with temporary, glitter and even custom-made tattoos. Families will get the chance to participate in a collaborative art project that will be displayed at the library’s next visit to the park on July 19.

 


June 28: Ladybugs on the Loose 

Ladybugs will be on the loose at Alexandria Community Park. Not only are they cute but ladybugs are beneficial to the environment! They eat aphids and other plant-eating pests. Celebrate this amazing insect with ladybug-related activities and a scavenger hunt.

 


July 5: Bubble Bonanza

Mark your calendars for a bubble party at Bernadette Watkins Park in Newport! Make small bubbles, giant bubbles and even bubble snakes! Attendees can even make their own bubble wands.

 


July 12: Sharks in the Park

Just in time for Shark Week, the Book Bus returns to the City Center Park in Wilder! Celebrate one of the ocean’s most misunderstood creatures with shark-tastic activities, including a photo booth.

 


July 19: Good Green Earth Petting Zoo 

Visit the animals of Good Green Earth Farm at Dayton, Kentucky’s Gil Lynn Park. There will be all kinds of friendly farm animals for children to see and interact with.

 


July 26: Arboretum on Wheels

The Arboretum on Wheels is coming to Alexandria Community Park… and so is the Book Bus! The Arboretum on Wheels is an innovative mobile environmental education lab that brings nature-focused activities to families.
