DIY Pinwheel Wreath Tutorial

Make your own pinwheel wreath!

This DIY tutorial was created by Valerie Davis, our Newport Branch’s adult/teen services librarian. If you have any questions about the tutorial, please email her at VDavis@cc-pl.org.

Materials Needed
  • Paper
    • Amount needed will depend on the size of your wreath
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue
    • School glue or craft glue will work, but it will take longer to dry. You can also use straight pins as an alternative.
  • Wreath form
    • If you don’t have a wreath form, you can use a pool noodle or a cardboard circle.

Step 1

Take a square of paper. I’m using 4×4 pieces, but you can adjust based on the size of your wreath.

Step 2

Fold the paper corner to corner.

Step 3

Open the paper up and fold to the opposite corner. It will end up looking like this.

Step 4

Cut along the lines, leaving an inch from the middle uncut.

Step 5

Look at the paper. It should look like this.

Step 6

Glue the bottom left corner to the center of the paper.

Step 7

Turn the paper and glue the left corner of each side to the center of the paper.

Step 8

When finished, it will look like this.

Step 9

Repeat steps 2 – 8 for the rest of your paper squares. You will need enough pinwheels to cover your wreath.

Step 10

Place glue on your wreath.

Step 11

Begin gluing the pinwheels to the wreath until the wreath is covered.

Step 12

Congratulations on your awesome new pinwheel wreath!
