Manga to Anime Club: ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ by Gege Akutami

Join us at the Alexandria Branch for Manga to Anime Club! This is a book club where we will read the first volume of a manga series each month and have a discussion about both the manga and the anime. Anyone who has read the manga or watched the anime is welcome! Light snacks will be provided.

For July, we’ll be discussing Jujutsu Kaisen by Gege Akutami.

The story revolves around Yuji Itadori, a high school student with impressive physical abilities. After a chance encounter with occult club members, Yuji becomes involved in the world of curses, supernatural entities born from negative human emotions.

Upon coming into contact with a cursed object known as a “Sukuna Finger,” Yuji inadvertently releases a powerful curse named Ryomen Sukuna. To prevent Sukuna from wreaking havoc on the world, Yuji swallows the rest of Sukuna’s fingers, making him the vessel for the cursed spirit. Now, Yuji must join Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical College, a school dedicated to training Jujutsu Sorcerers, individuals who combat curses, to learn how to control Sukuna’s power and ultimately defeat him.
