DIY Tutorial: Transforming Origami Star

Make a piece of origami that changes from a circle to a star. All you need is paper.

Materials Needed

This craft requires 8 square sheets of paper that are the same size.

Steps 1-10

See below for written directions.


Step 1

Fold the square from corner to corner and crease the paper well.


Step 2

Open the paper and fold the other two corners together. When you open your paper, it will look like this.


Step 3

Fold the paper in half to make a rectangle.


Step 4

When you unfold the paper, it will look like this.


Step 5

Fold down one of the corners and line it up with the center fold.


Step 6

Fold down the adjacent corner.


Step 7

Fold the paper in half.


Step 8

Push in the back end of the paper along the fold lines.


Step 9

The paper will look like this.


Step 10

Repeat steps 1-9 to make seven more for a total of eight.

Steps 11-15

See below for written directions.


Step 11

You will begin to form the circle by taking two pieces and placing one inside the other.


Step 12

Bend the ends that hang over into the other piece of paper.


Step 13

Place the next piece between the folded edges.


Step 14

Repeat steps 11-13 until all pieces are together and make a circle.


Step 15

Push in the sides and, like magic, you have a star!
