Morgan Lockard & Paige Wilson

“We do an assessment of our collection every five years, and one of the things we noticed is that there is a high demand for graphic novels, comics and manga. We didn’t feel like we had enough in our Fort Thomas collection to meet the needs of our patrons,” said Paige Wilson, the adult/teen services programmer at our Carrico/Fort Thomas Branch.

If you are a fan of the medium, chances are you will find something you like while browsing the expanded collection.

“When we were ordering, we looked at what series are most popular right now. We tried to get newer series, as well as some older fan favorites,” said Morgan Lockard, the adult/teen services librarian at our Carrico/Fort Thomas Branch.

Some of the titles you can expect to see are:

  • Home Time
  • Onibi: Diary of a Yokai Ghost Hunter
  • Black Panther
  • Space Boy
  • Giant Spider & Me
  • Rwby
  • Batgirl and the Birds of Prey
  • Valiant High
  • The Adventure Zone
  • Plum Crazy
  • Brazen
  • Guardians of the Galaxy

The medium has a lot to offer.

“People should give them a chance. The artwork can be amazing, and you get a little more detail than you are able to get with traditional fiction. They are also on the forefront of being diverse and inclusive,” said Lockard.
