Grant allows CCPL to share Minecraft know-how

Campbell County Public Library is spreading Minecraft knowledge across the Commonwealth.

Since August of 2014, Adult/Teen Services Librarian Clara Gerner has run a Minecraft server for Campbell County kids. The server has been such a smashing success that our sister library, McLean County Public Library applied for a grant to have Clara teach them how to get their Minecraft programs up and running.

The Friends of Kentucky Libraries awarded McLean County Public Library a $400 grant at the Kentucky Public Library Association conference on April 14. Our Director, JC Morgan, was on hand to accept the award.

With the grant, Clara will travel to McLean County to share the knowledge she’s gained. “Minecraft teaches kids so many 21st century skills,” Clara said. “Libraries are so much more than books and our server has introduced a lot of kids to what we have to offer. I think it will do the same in McLean County.”

We are grateful to the Friends of Kentucky Public Libraries for their generous support.
