Tween Book Club: ‘Spirit Hunters’ by Ellen Oh

Sometimes reading is more fun when you have others to talk to. Registering for this program puts you on a list to pick up a free copy of this month’s club pick, Spirit Hunters by Ellen Oh.

  1. Register for this program to get your copy of the book. If you can’t pick it up at Newport, tell us your location choice using the special needs section of the registration form.
  2. Starting August 11th, pick up your book from the library.
  3. Read and enjoy the book at your own pace.
  4. Come chat about this month’s book and other books you love in person or online on September 8th at 4:00 pm at the Newport Branch or via Zoom.

This book club is for ages 8-14

Harper doesn’t trust her new home from the moment she steps inside, and the rumors are that the Raine family’s new house is haunted. Harper isn’t sure she believes those rumors, until her younger brother, Michael, starts acting strangely.

The whole atmosphere gives Harper a sense of déjà vu, but she can’t remember why. She knows that the memories she’s blocking will help make sense of her brother’s behavior and the strange and threatening sensations she feels in this house, but will she be able to put the pieces together in time?

We encourage adults to remain in the library but to allow their tween/teen to attend the program alone – only if both are comfortable. If an adult must be present, they must sit with the tween/teen.
