Traveling Exhibition: Lineillism Revealed
Saturday, May 19, 2018
11:00 am - 4:00 pm
In 2000, local artist Jim “J.C.” Hall suffered an intense attack of shingles, which caused him to see in vertical lines. He began painting what he saw, creating a new art technique, “Lineillism.” The Newport Branch of the Campbell County Public Library will host Lineillism Revealed, a traveling exhibition showcasing Mr. Hall’s paintings. The exhibit includes 10 original Lineillism paintings, 2 original Jim Hall paintings in other styles, 2 seventy-year-old paintings Jim painted as a boy, and artifacts from Jim’s former home studio. The Exhibit opens to the public on Friday, May 18 – 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. with a reception and screening of the award-winning documentary Lines of Sight, presented by film & exhibit creator Steve Oldfield. Mr. Oldfield is a native of Bellevue, Kentucky. The Exhibit will remain open to the public the following dates/times through Friday, June 22, 2018.
