Homeschool Book to Movie Club – ‘The Breadwinner’ by Deborah Ellis

Have you read the book or seen the movie? Here at Homeschool Book to Movie Club, you can do both!

Every 3rd Thursday of the month at 11 am, we will discuss the club’s book with a special talk about its movie counterpart. Register for this program to get a free copy of the book to keep. The books will be at the Cold Spring Branch from March 18 through April 15 to pick up. If you can’t pick up at Cold Spring, tell us your location choice using the special needs section of the registration form or email Brittany at bparr@cc-pl.org.

The Breadwinner by Deborah Ellis

Parvana is an 11-year-old girl who lives under Taliban rule in Afghanistan in 2001. After the wrongful arrest of her father, Parvana cuts off her hair and dresses like a boy to support her family. Working alongside a friend, she soon discovers a new world of freedom and danger. Drawing strength from the fantastical stories she invents, Parvana embarks on an epic quest to find her father and reunite her family.

Due to registration limits and social distancing requirements, we encourage adults to remain in the library but allow their elementary age child to attend the program alone – only if child and adult are comfortable. If an adult needs to accompany a child, the adult must sit with the child so as to not contribute to room capacity.

Everyone, age 6 or older, who attends library programs are required to wear masks.

All this not arriving together must maintain 6-foot social distance.

If Campbell County is in RED on the Kentucky Department for Public Health’s Covid-19 Dashboard, all in-person programs will be cancelled and those registered will be offered the online option.
