Dr. Brian Hackett of the NKU History and Geography Department returns yet again for the 13th Annual City Barbecue Food for Thought Series.
Dr. Brian Hackett of the NKU History and Geography Department returns for the 13th Annual City BBQ Food for Thought Series to talk about 300 years of American furniture.

Our furniture is a reflection of our country, its history, its technology and its national resources. As our nation grew and changed, so did our taste in furniture. We no longer use the things our ancestors used daily. We use things every day that our ancestors could only dream of. Our furniture is a reflection of who we are!
Dr. Brian Hackett will help you explore your own basement for the history and treasures hidden under your own noses! Come explore the history in everyday objects and places.
Dr. Hackett leads the department's Master's degree program in Public History, and has a special interest in museum exhibits. His students in his public history courses have helped create exhibits for museums in New Richmond, OH, Cincinnati, OH and Newport, KY, among others. Dr. Hackett was responsible for the day-to-day management and development of historic sites as the executive director of the Montgomery County, OH Historical Society from 1992-2004. He served as the executive director of the Ross County, OH Historical Society from 1987-1992. He was the curator of collections for the Olmstead County, Minn. Historical Society from 1985-1987.
More recently, he wrote a book and developed an exhibit to celebrate the 150th anniversary of St. Elizabeth Hospital.
The talk will be filmed by Campbell Media and will air the following week on Sunday and Wednesday at 4:30 pm on CCMC (Cincinnati Bell Ch. 810 and Spectrum Ch. 202). It is also available on the Campbell Media Website or the Campbell Media App on Apple TV and Roku.

The Cable Board administers the cable television franchise agreement with Spectrum and Cincinnati Bell Extended Territories. The Board is made up of representatives from government agencies.
Campbell Media's goal is to reach out to its community by providing a wide range of media tools and mechanisms while maintaining a direct outlet for community programming through cable channels.
"We’re proud to serve the flavor of America. Every day, we’re smoking tastes of the nation, from Kansas City to the Carolinas, and sharing our passion for the art and soul of BBQ. We're serious about supporting our friends and neighbors in the communities we serve. That's why we host thousands of fundraisers for local charities and nonprofits every year (and donate 10% of our pre-tax profits)." - Rick, CEO and Founder
