John Lennon and Paul McCartney created unforgettable melodies that helped define music of the 1960s. A Cincinnati Contemporary Jazz Orchestra trumpeter will join the Phil DeGreg Trio in reimagining some of their classic songs as instrumental jazz pieces. The arrangements lend a new jazz twist to familiar melodies.
Summer of Love
Guitar great Roger Klug and Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra principal violist Heidi Yenney will take you on a groovy trip back in time as they celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love! Hear hits from artists that helped mold a generation, including The Doors, Grateful Dead, The Turtles and Jefferson Airplane. We promise the evening will be far out, man.
The Covington Devou-Doo Daddies
The Swing Revival of the 1990s culminated in 1998 with the “Summer of Swing” as various neo-swing bands (Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Royal Crown Revue, Brian Setzer Orchestra, Squirrel Nut Zippers and the Cherry Poppin’ Daddies) were charging up the charts. The fusion of the old jazz and swing with modern rock made for some great energetic up-beat music, which the KSO enthusiastically recreates with the The Covington Devou-Doo Daddies. This 10-pc show band allows the symphony to focus on a style/era of music that is unique and rarely heard in local live performance.
