Growing Readers at Carrico/Fort Thomas

If you have a young reader age 4-7, check out Growing Readers at Carrico/Fort Thomas. This story time is designed for early readers who have “graduated” from our younger children’s story times and are now ready to start reading and learning in a more structured setting.

Growing Readers focuses on a different letter each week. Librarians read a book that matches the letter. Then there are both traditional and high-tech games and activities, such as a letter-shaped craft. Books and early literacy apps are available on the Library’s iPad minis.

“Our main goal is to make this a more hands-on way of learning early reading skills,” said Laura Stanfield, Children’s Services Librarian at Carrico/Fort Thomas. “Toddler and preschool times focus on the foundation for early literacy. With Growing Readers, we want to reach the kids that are already starting to learn how to read and give them fun ways to continue that learning.”
