We’re Thankful

1.) In your free time, what do you do to give back to Campbell County?

“This month I helped hang door hangers in Newport for the Northern Kentucky Heroin Impact Response Task Force and the Northern Kentucky Health Department.  The door hangers were designed to educate the community on the threat that opioids and heroin present.  The hangers also encouraged the loved ones of those suffering from addiction to call the 24/7 Heroin Helpline.”

2.) What would you say to someone that is wanting to get involved in bettering the community?

“First, look at things that are interesting or important to you.  Try and find opportunities that fit those two things.  There are a lot of opportunities out there, even if you don’t have much time to give.”

3.) What are you thankful for this year?

“This year I am thankful for friends, family and coworkers.  They take an interest in my life, and they are there for me if I need them.”

Job: Circulation Clerk
Branch: Cold Spring

1.) In your free time, what do you do to give back to Campbell County?

“I collect calendars for a disabled individual in Campbell County.  He enjoys looking at the pictures on the calendars.  I have been collecting them for about four years now. He absolutely loves it when I drop off ones that people have given me.  His mom loves it too, and she uses the calendars as a teaching tool.  I get about 30 or 40 calendars a year, with a lot of them being given to me by other library staff members.”

2.) Why do you think it is important to give back to your community?

“It feels good helping someone else.  When someone has a small request that can brighten their day, do it.  You never know how much of a difference it could make.”

3.) What are you thankful for this year?

“I am thankful for my wonderful family and the opportunity to live in such a great community.”

1.) In your free time, what do you do to give back to Campbell County?

“I am the minister at the Community of Faith Presbyterian Church in Covington, Ky.  I have been the minister there for just over three years, and I believe that there is a lot that churches can learn from libraries; such as welcoming all people and having an active presence in the community.”

2.) What would you say to someone that is wanting to get involved in bettering the community?

“Find out what people need first.  Don’t assume what other people need.  Look for organizations that are already active and see if they interest you. The biggest thing is to just do it!”

3.) What are you thankful for this year?

“I am thankful for a spouse that supports me.  I am also thankful that I have two really great jobs when some people don’t have one.”

2.) Why do you think it is important to give back to your community?

“I like helping others in my community.  While there are a lot of organizations that help people all over the world, I think that it is important to remember that there are people in need that live right down the street from you.”

3.) What are you thankful for this year?

“My family.  I am thankful that we can all get together to celebrate the holidays, even when we don’t all live near each other.”
